DealerTide vs. Trove

DealerTide vs. Trove: A Digital Showroom Is Not a DMS (2027)

DealerTide, by Renter Insight·Updated September 2026·10 min read

Key takeaways

  • These are two different products solving two different problems. Trove is a digital showroom: website, factory-synced catalog, interactive design studio, lead capture and managed digital marketing. DealerTide is the dealer management system that runs the business behind the showroom.
  • Trove's design studio and property mapping are genuinely good at what they do, and we do not offer an equivalent interactive configurator. If a 3D customization experience on your website is the thing you are buying, that is Trove's specialty and we will tell you so.
  • What Trove does not do is run the dealership: deal desk, native general ledger, AP/AR and check printing, commission plans, service work orders, warranty claims and manufacturer AR, or the project and portal workflow between contract and delivery.
  • For a multi-rooftop operator the honest framing is: DealerTide can replace your DMS, your CRM, your email and SMS tool, your social scheduler and your commission spreadsheet. Trove replaces your website. Some dealers run both, and that is a legitimate answer.

Trove has built a strong reputation with manufactured and modular home retailers, and its pitch is sharp: your website should be a 24/7 digital showroom where buyers explore, customize and connect. It publishes real numbers about lead-conversion lift, offers flat monthly pricing with no annual commitment, and launches quickly.

Dealers still put it head-to-head with a DMS, because both products say CRM and both say inventory. That is where the comparison gets confusing and where buying decisions go wrong, so this page draws the line clearly.

We build DealerTide. Everything below about Trove comes from its own published material, and we have deliberately not guessed at its roadmap.

"Not a DMS function" is not a criticism of Trove. It is not trying to be your back office, and it does not claim to be.

What Trove is very good at

The front door. A buyer lands on your site, browses factory-accurate floor plans, customizes a home with live pricing, sees it placed on a property, and becomes a lead with real intent attached. That is a materially better shopping experience than a photo gallery and a contact form, and Trove publishes conversion math to argue it pays for itself.

Its factory side matters too. If your business runs on a handful of factories, a catalog synced from the source with your own markup rules removes one of the most tedious jobs in MH retail: re-typing brochures.

And the managed marketing is a service, not a toolbox. For a dealer with nobody in-house to run Google Ads, having someone else own it is worth paying for. We sell tools your team operates; Trove will operate the channel for you. Those are different offers and different buyers.

Where the comparison actually breaks down

Follow a single home through your dealership and you can see the boundary. The buyer configures and inquires; the rep quotes and desks a payment; the deal is written and signed; the factory order goes in; a deposit is taken and posted; the home is built, shipped, set and finished; the buyer is updated twenty times; the subs invoice; the commission is calculated and paid; the books close; a year later the buyer reports a warranty issue and you file a claim and collect from the manufacturer.

A digital showroom owns the first two steps beautifully. A DMS owns the other eleven. If you buy only the showroom, every step after the inquiry still lives in QuickBooks, a shared drive, a text thread and somebody's memory.

That is why dealers who evaluate them as competitors usually end up with the wrong answer to the wrong question. The right question is: which of the eleven steps am I still doing by hand, and what is that costing me at four rooftops instead of one?

What DealerTide brings that a showroom platform cannot

  • Deal desk and agreements. Build payment scenarios in seconds, share a summary with the buyer, then send documents for eSign by text or email.
  • A real ledger. Native general ledger, bank transactions, bills and payments, journal entries, integrated check printing and 1099s, with deals and purchase orders flowing to the books. Or a live two-way QuickBooks sync if your controller prefers.
  • Commissions that survive an audit. Rule-based plans with splits, tiers, spiffs, chargebacks and caps, calculated off deal data and routed for approval.
  • Warranty as a P&L line. Service work orders, claim submission, manufacturer communication, approval and denial tracking, warranty AR and claim aging.
  • Deal to delivery. Every sold deal becomes a project with tasks, timelines and documents, with a branded client portal for the buyer and a contractor portal for your subs.
  • Multi-rooftop control. Location-scoped records, custom roles, per-rooftop and consolidated reporting, and a real-time dashboard across every lot.

And on the demand side, we are not empty-handed: CRM with lead routing, multi-step email and SMS campaigns, social media management, landing pages, a brochure builder that tells you when a buyer keeps reopening the brochure, listing syndication, and a no-code automation engine so the follow-up happens whether or not anyone remembers.

Running both

This is a real option and we will not pretend otherwise. Keep Trove as the public showroom and design experience, run DealerTide as the system of record, and connect them: leads into the CRM, units reconciled against inventory. Our open API and webhooks exist for exactly this kind of arrangement.

Two things to settle before you commit to that shape. First, which system owns the unit record, because two catalogs with different prices is worse than either alone. Second, where the lead lands first, and who is accountable for the follow-up. Decide those on a whiteboard, not after go-live.

How to work out which you need

Buy the showroom first if…

  • Your site is the bottleneck and traffic is not converting.
  • Buyers want to customize before they will call you.
  • Your back office genuinely works today and nobody is complaining.
  • You have one or two rooftops and one person can hold the whole operation in their head.

Buy the DMS first if…

  • Commission disputes, month-end and warranty aging eat your week.
  • Buyers call for status because nobody can show them progress.
  • Each rooftop has invented its own process and you cannot compare them.
  • The same numbers are typed into three systems and one of them is always wrong.

The cheap test

Count the systems a single sold home touches from inquiry to warranty expiry, and count how many times a human re-enters data that already exists somewhere. If the answer is two systems and one re-entry, you have a website problem. If it is six systems and nine re-entries, a better website will not fix it.

Our pick

We build DealerTide, so weigh this accordingly, and we are not going to claim we out-showroom Trove: no interactive design studio here, and their managed marketing service has no equivalent in our pricing.

Our claim is narrower and, for a multi-rooftop operator, more consequential: one system from lead to delivery to the general ledger, with marketing, deal desk, accounting, commissions, warranty, projects and both portals included rather than assembled from vendors. Buy the showroom because your website needs to sell. Buy the DMS because your dealership needs to run.

Book a demo, call 303-586-4420, or email sales@dealertide.com. Bring your current vendor list and we will tell you honestly which of them we replace.

Frequently asked questions

Is DealerTide a competitor to Trove?

Only at the edges. Both have a CRM and both handle inventory records, so they overlap on lead capture and unit data. Trove is a digital showroom and marketing platform; DealerTide is a dealer management system with accounting, commissions, service, warranty and delivery workflow. Plenty of dealers would benefit from both.

Does DealerTide have an interactive home configurator?

No. We do not offer an interactive 3D design studio, and we would rather say that plainly than stretch a feature name. What we do offer is a brochure builder that produces branded, home-specific brochures with your rep's contact details in seconds, with open-tracking so you know when a buyer is circling back.

Can I keep my Trove website and use DealerTide behind it?

Yes. We have an open API and webhooks, and custom websites are an optional add-on with us rather than a requirement. Decide up front which system owns the unit record and where leads land first.

Does DealerTide sync with factory catalogs?

Yes, for factory-built housing: a Champion IMS integration plus multi-brand OEM catalog feeds pull specs, floor plans, photos and MSRP into inventory and your listings. Ask us which of your specific factories are live today.

What does DealerTide cost?

We quote by dealership rather than publishing a rate card, because rooftop count and user count drive it. Tell us what you need and we will put a number in writing.
